Head Gardener's Log, April 14th
|
Greetings, friends! It's officially been 18 years since I took on the title of "Head Gardener". Can you believe it? What an honor it has been, building this little dream of mine and sharing it with you. The community that has sprung up around the Yarn Garden is supportive, warm and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you for your support for 18 years and I'm looking forward to many more. LYS Day 2025Local Yarn Store Day (LYS Day) is a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and community. It’s a day dedicated to the small businesses that bring fiber enthusiasts together, offering unique yarns, expert advice, and a welcoming space to learn and share. The brick and mortar shop will be open from 10:00a to 4:00p, with all LYS Day offerings available on our website after noon.Stay up-to-date and see sneaky peeks at the Facebook event here!
What's New in Gnome River Yarns:
Enchanted Pines, now available in all full size bases. This was the exclusive color in the Creature Comfort boxes from Small Business Saturday in November. It's now available for the first time on all bases (including Adventure Gnome... and it is BEAUTIFUL!).
Forest, a gorgeous tonal green that compliments Enchanted Pines, will be available on ALL bases (including Gnomelets), next week!

May COTM announced!
April showers bring.... MAY FLOWERS, the name of May's COTM for Gnome River Yarns. Inspired by the beautiful flora sure to be blooming in May, this cheery, happy color features a base of peony pink, with dashes of tulip red, hyacinth purple, and daffodil yellow. You can almost smell it! The notion for the month, made by Jason, is a flower-shaped stitch marker. Order by the 15th to have the yarn in hand by May 1st!

A beautiful assortment of functional, pretty notions have been restocked, including all the pieces and parts for the Maker's Board (including the Maker's Board). There was also a new product... the Project Portfolio!

Shawl and Scarf Accessories
New accessories from a brand new-to-YG company, House Of Morgan, arrived this week. This North Carolina maker creates beautiful objects out of pewter, including the shawl pin and infinity scarf ring I used to demonstrate during the most recent Feature Friday live video on Facebook. Watch the replay here (scroll to about the 50 minute mark).

What's on my needlesI'm working on a pretty summer sweater with our current MAL (make-a-long), but I'm not making much progress! I've been busy working on a top-secret project for LYS Day... you'll have to wait to see the finished object soon. I recently finished the class sample for "Brioche Basics, Part 2". It's a pretty little cowl, perfect for dressing up a plain tee or layering under a jacket. It takes 2 colors of a dk weight. If you're interested in learning more about knitting brioche, check out the newly scheduled class here. Thanks again for being here... you ARE appreciated. Your Head Gardener, Lindsay Potter
