News From The Yarn Garden!

Head Gardener's Log, April 8th, 2023

Can you believe that it's my Sweet 16 Anniversary as the Head Gardener here at YG? It's true! And I want to celebrate with you! Join me next Thursday, April 13th for a Sweet 16 Stitch In from 4p - 7p... there will be a free gift with every purchase made that day (both online and in store), plus some sweet treats. The party will be held upstairs in the 131 Event Space (take the the stairs outside the back door!), so bring your current project and help me celebrate our Sweet 16 Anniversary. I'd love to thank you in person for your support!
(Note: Jason will have the shop open downstairs until 5:30p, and we can always come downstairs to shop after that, if needed!)
On Saturday, April 29th, the Spring Maker's Fest will bring a shopping experience to Eaton County for modern makers in the fiber world. Do you have this exciting day marked on your calendar yet? It's going to be a great day in Charlotte! Plan to swing by YG first for LYS Day festivities, then spend the rest of the day down at the fairgrounds, shopping our region's best fiber arts vendors. This includes indie yarn dyers (like Gnome River Yarns!), fiber producers, woodworkers, project bag makers and more! There will be a food truck vendor on site, along with the Maker's Lounge, where you're welcome to hang out and stitch a while on your current project (or maybe cast on a new one!).

New Shop Models!
Olivia did a fabulous job modeling the Andrea sweater from Juniper Moon Farm, didn't she? The sweater was knit with Cirrus Rainbow plus a coordinating shade of Cirrus. It is so soft and light!
And Mom finished knitting the adorable baby sweater (just behind Olivia's head in the picture) called Spelt, out of one ball of Cirrus Rainbow.

Astria Shawl Kits
Ambah O'Brien's newest shawl design really caught my attention when she used a ball of Yukata and striped it with another fingering weight yarn. If you watch my Feature Friday video on Facebook Live from yesterday (April 7th), you can see several color combination ideas using Camper from Kelbourne Woolens as the contrast color. The design takes 1 dragon egg of Yukata and three hanks of Camper.

What's on my needles
My current adventure sock! I'm almost to the toe on sock #1. The yarn I'm using is from Julia at Knitterly Things and she'll have a booth at our Spring Maker's Fest!

I'm so close to being done with my Op Art shawl! I'm using a "boring" color of Pima Soft (#4621 Slate; 3 balls) with a fun, sassy color of Summer Sesame (#5252 Kaleidoscope; 1 ball). The idea is to make that Summer Sesame really pop!

Your Head Gardener,
Lindsay Potter
