Head Gardener's Log, January 14th, 2023
|
Mark your calendars for next week, January 17th through the 21st for the Adelaide Fiber Company trunk show here at YG! Janice will have TWO new bases for us to fondle, both aran weight (one tweed, one not). For those of you not local to our brick and mortar shop, watch Feature Friday (on our Facebook page!) next week for a chance to shop virtually.
Starting NEXT TUESDAY, January 27th, YG will now be open for evening shopping hours until 7:00pm! Just a little warning though... you will likely encounter a rowdy group of knitters and crocheters hanging out at my back tables, giggling and generally wreaking a little havoc! Sound like fun? You're welcome to join us for social stitching from 4p - 7p!
I'll be casting on one of these two hat designs this weekend, using our newest base from Gnome River Yarns, Burly Gnome. I'm hoping that I might have enough yarn for BOTH, if I switch main colors!
I picked up a crochet hook and started a Waffle Stitch Dishcloth with a brand new spring/summer yarn, Zooey Stripes. This is the same Zooey that you already know and love, but in a self-striping palette (hint: take a look at our online listing for Zooey Stripes to see how each color knits up!)
Not a hooker? (That joke never gets old). Never fear, I found a lovely knit waffle pattern dishcloth alternative!
The eight new fabulous colors of the self-striping Silk Garden arrived this week, along with a beautiful sweater sample called Tadmor. It's a stunning top down, yoke style pullover with a gorgeous botanical colorwork design in the yoke. The pattern calls for Silk Garden for the contrast color and Silk Garden Solo for the main color. Don't get me wrong, the sweater is gorgeous. but my fingers are itching to cast on the Myssoni Bandanna, using just two skeins (and of course... I'd pick two different colors)!
What's on my needles:
My Oban Cardi, using Germantown, has two fronts, a back, and looks like a lovely vest!
My current adventure sock, using my Clever Gnome base and the color called Gnora's Bouquet (originally dyed for Seed Club). This bright, colorful bouquest of colors is now available on three bases... Gnome's Feet, Clever Gnome AND Burly Gnome!
Your Head Gardener,
Lindsay Potter
