Make It Monday
This adorable cap took me about two hours of dedicated knitting time to whip up, and another week or so to sew on the button (anybody else put off the finishing, like weaving in ends or blocking or sewing on buttons? Why do I do that!?). The button shown in my sample is what inspired this week's Make It Monday project! These buttons are made by a local woodworker named Jeff who has a knitter for a wife (Hi, Anna!). This creative team comes up with some fabulous accessories and these buttons are the latest to come out of Pepaw's Woodshop (note: these buttons are NOT available for sale on our website. If you are interested in purchasing buttons separately from the kit, please contact us and we are happy to help you!).
Snag a kit or two and make these warm caps for holiday gifts. They'd be great for teacher gifts, your postal worker, or your neighbor. The hat pattern is called Big Button Hat by Bad Amy Knits (free on Ravelry here) and uses just one ball of Trust from Wool Addicts (super bulky; 55% superfine alpaca / 45% merino wool; 80 yards = 50 gram ball).

Seed Club: Garden
Garden can mean many things: the literal planned space where one grows things for enjoyment or sustenance, a place where one goes to feel connected to nature, or it can simply be a pretty place. Inspiration could be found in some of the most famous gardens in the world, from the elaborate gardens at the Palace of Versailles and the Royal Botanic Gardens to right outside your door. Gardens have inspired Impressionist artists such as Monet and Renoir, to the larger-than-life blooms painted by Georgia O’Keeffe.
What IS Seed Club? I am delighted to be your guide for another creative tour exploring the inspiration found in nature. Our journey together for Seed Club takes the form of an exclusive monthly yarn subscription box called a Seed Packet. Each Seed Packet contains a uniquely dyed skein of yarn, useful notion and postcard with pattern inspiration. The next 12 months (from August 2021 to July 2022) will all be inspired by the concept of "garden".
How do I sign up? Click on the image above to see more details and choose your subscription length and shipping option for this annual membership. All your questions should be answered by the FAQs at the bottom... if not, please call us at (517)541-9323 or email the Head Gardener at yarngardenMI@gmail.com. I've been busy working on my Cancun Lace Top using Zooey from Juniper Moon Farms. In fact, I just bound off the front and cast on the back last night! I also started a mate to an Adventure sock during WWKIP Day on Saturday. Socks are my favorite summer project to grab and go, and I have an entire project bag stuffed with first socks and the yarn for the second. Maybe (and this a STRONG maybe) I'll have some completed pairs when the cold weather returns! What do you like to work on when the temperature climbs?
