Head Gardener's Log, March 22nd

Make It Monday!
(Throwback to a few years ago, when my hair was teal!)
Today's project is brought to you by the kitten-soft Cumulus yarn, featured in the Feature Friday video last week. This cowl feels like a cloud (hence the name!!) when draped around your neck, but it keeps you nice and toasty. It's great for layering over spring jackets to transition us into warmer weather. I do this funny thing where I subconsciously refuse to wear my heavy winter coat somewhere around the first of March. This is a PERFECT layering piece to add to your March wardrobe if you're like me!
Choose three of your favorite colors of this alpaca/silk blend, hold two strands of it together and cast on and just KNIT! There is no purling, no increases, no decreases, just two strands of a decadently soft lace weight yarn.

Orphan Adoption Event
Are you looking for the perfect yarn to add to your stash? Our Orphan Adoption Event is the perfect time to bring home some new additions to enhance your little fiber family. So what is orphan yarn, you ask? An orphan is just a poor little lonely skein that is the last of their families to be adopted. They're just looking for a good home!
You can expect a variety of yarn weights, from bulky weight and smaller, that are looking for their forever home. And of course, the adoption fees will be reduced for this sale!
The event kicks off with in-store shopping*, starting on Friday, March 26th and running through Wednesday, March 31st. I will be putting up the remaining orphan skeins of yarn for adoption on Wednesday afternoon, starting at 5:00pm with a fun twist on a FB live sale! You can find the event for the Facebook LIVE sale at the following link. Be sure to click "going" to be notified when the sale starts!

I look forward to pairing you up with the perfect skein(s) for your stash, er, family!!
*We are taking all safety precautions as recommended by the CDC. Please plan to use hand sanitizer when you enter and leave, wear a mask and follow the 6 foot (or 8 hanks of yarn!) social distancing guidelines. We will be limiting shoppers as needed.

The last few days have been so lovely here in Michigan. The meteorological first day of spring brought warmer temps and sunburns in March. I may have giggled quite a bit to myself while in the grocery store today... the top half of everyone's face was a toasty shade of red, including my own. I guess I should start trading in my heavy winter coat for a layer of sunscreen!
I hope the sunshine has found you, where ever you may be reading this from, and that you feel the promise of spring in the air. Happy creating!
Lindsay Potter, your Head Gardener
