CK: Continental Knitting
Are you an English knitter (“thrower”) who would like to learn to knit in the Continental (“picking”) style? Would you like to increase your knitting speed, or improve your gauge and knitting posture? Or perhaps you’re interested in upping your colorwork game by becoming more proficient at using your left hand? Cassondra will show you how to hold your yarn for even tension in a way that is customised to you. Basic knit and purl stitches will be covered as well as the Norwegian purl, ribbing, and increase/decrease stitches, leaving you some handy new skills in your knitting toolbox. Please note that this is not a beginning knitting class but one designed to explore alternatives with knitters who are already proficient in the English style.
Materials:
- One skein of worsted yarn, lighter colors recommended. Non fuzzy yarns are best for learning this technique.
- 24” size US8 circular needles (We recommend pointed metal needles for learning Continental knitting, such as ChiaGoo Red Lace or Addi Turbo Rockets.)
