Lace for the Curious Knitter

Have you admired beautiful lace shawls and delicate lace patterns but felt intimidated to give them a try? Join us for this two-session introductory lace knitting class and discover that lace is simply a combination of familiar knitting techniques arranged in creative ways.
In this class, you'll learn the fundamentals of lace knitting, including yarn overs, increases, decreases, reading written patterns and charts, using lifelines, and selecting the best tools for lace projects. We'll explore the differences between lace knitting and knitted lace, discuss the advantages of knitting lace both flat and in the round, and share tips for avoiding common mistakes.
During the first session, students will practice lace techniques on scrap yarn before casting on a class project. Between classes, you'll continue working on your project and complete a practice swatch designed to help you recognize and troubleshoot common lace errors.
The second session focuses on building confidence with more advanced lace sections, learning how to identify and fix mistakes, and mastering the finishing process. We'll discuss and demonstrate proper blocking techniques and tools to help your lace reach its full potential.
