Summer Tee Day Camp

Dreaming of the perfect handmade summer top? In this creative workshop, you'll design a simple, wearable tee that's uniquely yours!

Using a straightforward construction of two rectangles, you'll learn how to create a custom boxy, short-sleeved tee pattern based on your own measurements, gauge, and style preferences. We'll start by swatching to determine stitch gauge, explore a variety of stitch pattern options, and discuss how different choices affect the finished fabric and fit. Then comes the fun part: a little knitting math and a little knitting magic! Using a provided template, you'll calculate the stitch counts needed to create your personalized pattern.

By the end of class, you'll leave with:

Your own custom summer tee pattern
A better understanding of gauge and sizing
Confidence in making design decisions for future projects
Hopefully enough time to cast on your very first stitches!

The possibilities for yarn are nearly endless. While plant-based DK weight yarns are especially lovely for warm-weather garments, you're welcome to choose a fiber that suits your vision. Most tees will require approximately 500 to 1,000 yards, depending on size and desired length. We'll use your swatch during class to estimate your yarn needs more accurately.

Suggested Yarns:

Berroco Remix Light or Tillie
Juniper Moon Farm Cumulus (any version) or Cotton + Merino
Noro Akari or Mebuki

If you're interested in using a different yarn, please reach out before class and we'll discuss whether it's a good fit for the project.

Materials Needed:

Yarn for swatching
Knitting needles in the US 6-10 range
An interchangeable needle set is highly recommended
Notebook and pencil for recording your custom pattern notes
Any stitch dictionary or collection of stitches that inspire you

Whether you're new to garment knitting or ready to dip a toe into knitwear design, this workshop will give you the tools to create a comfortable, versatile summer tee that's truly your own.

Returns are subject to a record of sale, either by the original customer providing a receipt or the original customer’s account history.

Option 1:

90-day return on yarn ONLY for store credit based on current store selling price. – minus shipping charges when applicable, and - minus a 5% credit card processing fee when applicable. (Yarn must be in original manufactures condition)

Option 2:

30-day return on yarn ONLY for a cash refund based on current store selling price – minus a 20% restock fee and – minus shipping charges when applicable. (Yarn must be in original manufactures condition) Cash returns may be in the form of cash, check, credit card, or PayPal at the owner’s discretion.

No returns

We do not accept returns on trunk shows, limited edition kits, club yarns, or non-yarn related products, such as needles, notions, bags, patterns, digital downloads, gift cards, books, shawl pins, jewelry, tools, etc., or any items sold on sale or at a discounted price.

Yarn purchased more than 90 days prior to the current date.

Yarn that is no longer in original manufactures condition

Yarn that is currently obsolete

Any Item that was special ordered

No returns are accepted without proof or record of purchase. No returns on behalf of someone else.

Any other returns are at the discretion of the owner.

Class or Special Event Fees

If Yarn Garden cancels or reschedules a class or event for any reason a cash refund or store/class credit will be issued (This will be determined on a per customer basis)

If a customer/student/participant cancels or does not show up to a class or event for any reason within 3 days leading up to the scheduled event time; No store/ class credit will be issued. If the cancellation occurs more than 3 days or more prior to the class or event; store/class credit will be issued.
