Cables, Untangled
Description: Learn the skills to create cable stitches in knit fabric and practice a variety of stitches while knitting swatches. Students will get familiar with cable charts, common abbreviations and terms, and have the opportunity to try cabling WITHOUT a cable needle. After leaving class, students will leave with the skills needed to knit Perseus, a basic cabled hat.
Supplies for class
- smooth worsted weight wool in a light color (I recommend Vintage by Berroco Yarns)
- US 7 needle (if you're planning to knit the hat after class, make sure the needles are 16" circulars)
- cable needle
- 1 hank of Vintage by Berroco Yarns (this can be the same yarn you used for class)
- US 5 (3.75 mm) circular needle, 16" long
- US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle, 16" long
- US 7 (4.5 mm) double pointed needles (or alternative small circumference needle)
- cable needle
- stitch markers

| Skill Details: | comfortable with basic knit/purl stitches and increasing/decreasing; follows pattern instructions. |
| Requirements: | To be successful in this class, student should be able to knit, purl and identifying the difference between the two. |

| Instructor Bio: | Lindsay Potter is the Head Gardener at the Yarn Garden, with 18 years of teaching experience under her tool belt. She's been knitting longer than she hasn't and loves the light bulb moment when her student "gets it". Her favorite thing to knit is whatever is on her needles! |
